Ph.D.s Health & Life Sciences Psychology University of Liverpool
The University of Liverpool has had recently been successful as part of a joint bid (together with Manchester and Lancaster) for an ESRC Doctoral Training Centre. As a result, Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster are now guaranteed a total of 63 new postgraduate studentships per year for the next 5 years to support research and training at doctoral level. These studentships will meet Health and Well Being objectives of the ESRC 2009-2014 Strategic Plan http://www.esrc.ac.uk/strategicplan/
As an Institute Psychology is looking for exceptional quality candidates for Ph.D.s Health & Life Sciences studentships (have or expect to obtain a First Class Degree or a First Class Degree and a distinction at Masters Level), and work with them to produce high quality proposals with a good fit to one of the DTC pathways and to the ESRC’s thematic priorities. Health research priorities include Appetite and Obesity, Addiction and Pain.
In Obesity the University is looking for candidates interested in:
- impact of commercial food promotion on children’s food preferences
- the role of maternal feeding practices of infant development, or
- the role of delayed gratification in over-consumption.
